The Department of History is one of the oldest departments in the University of Nairobi. It was established in 1956 under the aegis of the then Royal Technical College which would become the University of Nairobi in July 1970. Over the years, it expanded to its present strength of highly trained and internationally recognized members of academic staff.
Besides history and archeology programmes, the Department has an array of market driven diploma and degree programmes. For example, We have Diploma programmes in Cultural Tourism and Armed Conflict and Peace
