Our next hybrid - online & onsite - staff seminar in the on-going series on "Bringing down History & Archaeology from the Ivory Tower" will be on Thursday November 30th, 2023, 2.30pm East African Time. Our speaker will be Dr. Ben Nyanchoga. He will be speaking on 'Archaeology of the Place' : Space Use and Its Impact on Resource Utilisation by Pastoral-Neolithic Communities, Central Rift, Kenya (Please, see the attached E-Flyer for details).

Dr.  Nyanchoga is a Senior Lecturer, Department of History and Archaeology, University of Nairobi. He, also, coordinates PhD in Archaeology and BA Tourism programmes in the Department. Nyanchoga holds  a PhD in Archaeology from  the  University of Nairobi. His general research interests are in Environmental Archaeology and that of  Heritage Tourism.

In this presentation, Nyanchoga makes a case for the centrality of spatial studies, as opposed to hitherto appreciated in Kenya, in unravelling archaeological knowledge. He focuses on space use, as a critical factor in life patterns and consequent resource exploitation of the Pastoral-Neolithic communities, Central Rift Valley, Kenya.
