THE PSYCHOLOGICAL EFFECTS ON KENYAN TROOPS PARTICIPATING IN OPERATION LINDA NCHI IN SOMALIA 2011 - 2012

The former United Nations Secretary General Dag Hammarskjold (1905-1961) once said that,

“peacekeeping is not a job for Soldiers, but only soldiers can do it”.1 This is because, the military

personnel are trained to conduct combat operation and undertake many other functions such as

stability and relief operations.2 While this assertion is true that the military has unparalleled

capabilities to accomplish some of the most difficult tasks, these operations present the soldiers

STUDENT ACTIVISM IN THE UNIVERSITY OF NAIROBI AND DEMOCRATIC SPACE 1970 -1992

This project paper is an in-depth study on student activism and democratic space in

the University of Nairobi between 1970 and 1992. It examines the relationship of

students, in their activism, to the University administration and the state. It also looks

at the tactics the students used in their activism. The objectives of this study were to

explain the causes of student activism in the University of Nairobi between 1970 and

The focus of this research is to reconstruct the life and times of Jane Mumbi Kiano, one of the

women public figures and serves as a role model to most aspiring young women in the

contemporary Kenyan society. It highlights the beginnings, the struggles and the perseverance of

Jane Mumbi Kiano. In addition, it demonstrates how she influenced the political career of her

husband, Dr. Kiano, women empowerment in the contemporary society and advocating and

protection of women rights among others.

The Contribution of the Church Missionary Society (CMS) to Education and Christianity in Kaloleni District, Kilifi County (1900-1963)

This study examined the contribution of the Church Missionary Society

(CMS) to Western Education and Christianity in Kaloleni District, Kilifi County. The

objectives of this study were to examine the rise and development of western

education and Christianity among the Giriama, the contribution African teachers and

evangelists towards the same and the challenges the Church Missionary Society faced

in Kaloleni District. This study was guided by Modernization theory and Cultural Lag

WATER COOPERATION AND PEACEBUILDING IN MARSABIT COUNTY, 1991-2009

The goal of this research is to examine how peace initiatives have capitalized on the

existence of shared interests, in order to transfer them into opportunities to promote

peace. To offer insight on how cooperative processes have been designed and

implemented in a conflict-sensitive way and finally To provide lessons learned about

challenges and successes of water cooperation as a means to building peace in

Marsabit County
